Kushma-Balewa Mechanized Bridge (कुश्मा–बलेवा यान्त्रिक पुल)

The Mechanized bridge that links Kushma and Balewa, constructed with the investment from the private sector has been brought into operation.

The bridge was constructed to link Parbat district headquarters, Kushma Bazaar with Balewa, the southern belt of Baglung district, and was brought into operation since Saturday.

The Mechanized bridge that was started some six months ago was constructed at a cost of Rs. 40 million in the cable car model and was brought into operation for test though the formal services will be started only after a few days.

Senior Vice-chairman of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Bhaskarraj Rajkarnikar had laid the foundation stone of the bridge on July 1.

The mechanical bridge was constructed by collecting shares from a total of 436 persons after the efforts to invite aid agencies to construct the bridge failed for a long time, said Chairman of the Kushma-Balewa Mechanical Bridge Private Company, Hom Narayan Shrestha.

The bridge will have two cars and one car with eight- man capacity, and 16 people can cross the river from both sides at a time which will shorten the two-hour trek to cross the river to only three minutes.

With the construction of the bridge, it is expected that the airport that was not been in operation since long would come into operation.
